1. Glass and frame cleaning
Use clean water, mild soap and a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge. Rinse and dry with a lint-free cloth. Avoid razor blades, abrasive pads, pressure washers and strong solvents unless the manufacturer expressly approves them. Do not apply films or coatings without checking warranty requirements.
2. Tracks, locks and hardware
Vacuum loose dirt from tracks and wipe them with mild soap and water. Operate locks and moving panels periodically. Use only a manufacturer-approved dry lubricant where recommended; oil-based products can attract debris. Do not force a sash, handle or lock that binds.
3. Weep holes and drainage
Inspect visible drainage openings and keep them free of dirt, paint, insects and landscaping debris. Do not drill new holes or modify the frame. Water observed in a sill track may be normal during heavy rain if it drains correctly.
4. Exterior sealants and finishes
Inspect accessible perimeter sealant and finishes at least annually and after severe weather. Cracked, missing or separated sealant should be evaluated by a qualified professional. Do not cover drainage paths or use an incompatible sealant.
5. Condensation and indoor humidity
Interior condensation can result from indoor humidity meeting a cooler surface and does not necessarily indicate a defective window. Use ventilation, exhaust fans and appropriate humidity control. Moisture between insulated glass panes may require professional inspection.
6. Storm preparation
Follow the product’s approved instructions and local emergency guidance. Close and lock operable windows before severe weather. Impact-rated products do not eliminate all risk. Never install unapproved fasteners, shutters or accessories through the frame.
7. Requesting service
Contact MSM Home Solutions if a window will not lock, glass is cracked, water does not drain, sealant has separated, or moisture appears between panes. Stop using any component that presents a safety concern.
